Now Micro’s End-of-Life Management Services are designed to work with your organization to define the most appropriate way to manage old equipment and ensure everything is done in accordance with your security requirements, government guidelines and lease terms.
The first step in every end-of-life process is to ensure that all data and settings contained within the computer are effectively destroyed. If this information lands in the wrong hands, it can prove damaging to the privacy of both your organization and your customers.

Our data destruction software program is certified by the Department of Defense and adheres to the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) and Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX).
All data destruction occurs within the secure labs at our Minnetonka, MN, facility, and we offer digitally signed MD5 protected reports. These reports include erasure, standard use and time, and can be readily integrated into a variety of asset management systems that import HTML, CSV or XML files.
Managing Old HardwareAfter all data on the computer is destroyed, the next question is what to do with the old technology. Depending on whether you leased or purchased your technology, you have different options.
Leased Technology End-of-Life Management
To adhere to your lease terms, computer and appliances need to be returned in working order with the same systems in place as originally delivered.
Unfortunately, after three to five years, normal wear and tear can affect even the most protected computers. If this disrepair is not remedied, you may be in violation of specific lease terms, resulting in additional costs for your organization.
To avoid this, Now Micro serves as a certified warranty repair shop for many of our vendor partners. Our team of technicians can restore your technology to manufacturer specifications, fix technical or cosmetic issues, and replace missing pieces and parts.
We then ship the leased unit back to the manufacturer in accordance with your lease agreement, avoiding any extra fees.
Purchased Technology End-of-Life Management
Disposal — Electronic equipment may contain lead, chromium, cadmium, mercury, and other hazardous metals. The federal environmental protection laws require proper handling and disposal of these materials. Now Micro understands these laws and adheres to all guidelines set by the EPA when disposing of your old hardware.
Our clients receive a complete waiver of liability for all disposed and recycled assets. Our disposal vendors provide Now Micro with a certificate of destruction verifying the hardware’s final disposal, and the record is maintained Now Micro’s system.
Repurposing — If you’d prefer to repurpose any hardware, Now Micro can make necessary repairs, image the system and have it ready to be deployed upon your request.
Remarketing — At times, there may be a market for old equipment. Now Micro works with third-party vendors that determine if any of your old equipment can be resold. If so, the equipment is purchased by the vendor and ownership is transferred.
The marketability of these systems is often identified in the Technology Assessment stage. At that time, it is decided how to use the additional budget obtained through the sale of your old equipment. Some customers use it for new or enhanced technology refresh services, or reinvest in the purchase of new technology.
